Tom Hanks visited the Late Show Monday night and gave a hilarious impression of director Ron Howard filming a particularly intense scene from Inferno.

“I’m such a jerk, Dave, because this would be a great moment in the movie, provided no one has seen this bit on your show,” Hanks admitted to Letterman. “Rule number one is do not ridicule the movie you are in!”
